Frix’s Fire Grill Restaurant Review
Frix’s Fire Grill is a locally owned restaurant. They have been open for a couple of years and seem to be doing well. It’s hard for me to tell you what kind of cuisine it is, as it’s a mix between a couple of types. I believe it is Brazilian American. That is my best guess. What I really know, is, it is delicious. It’s about time we do a restaurant review on this yummyness.
If you need to find the criteria that I use when writing a review, just the restaurant review page. I worked in the restaurant industry for over three years after I graduated with my undergrad and tried to figure out what I was going to do with my life. Eventually, I decided on ultrasound school and needed something with evening and weekend hour she that I could make bills meet while I went through school. Anyway, let’s get to the restaurant review.
Frix’s is a smaller restaurant, I’d say with about a dozen to fifteen tables on the restaurant side and four to six high top tables in the bar widely there is also some small tables on the bar side with couch like seating and, of course, bar seating available for eating and drinking. The host stand is right when you walk in. We are usually greeted by the same smiling lady, who has gotten to know us and is always super excited to see us. It makes going there even more of a good time.
The table and seating is always set. The busser is always on point there. She is cleaning the table almost before the previous table has walked out of the building. Once she busses, she changes the linens and makes sure the plates and silverware are set up and ready to go. The tables are always perfectly set and the salt is always on the right! ADA compliant.
We usually have one of two servers. I feel like there is always the same handful of people working there. The servers are always very happy, timely with their greeting and open to help with any menu questions. One of the busier nights that we went there, the hostess who has gotten to know us, actually, ended up taking our order and waiting on us. She noticed that the other servers were in the weeds and crazy busy. So, she took it upon herself to help us out. She was really knowledgeable and if she didn’t know the answer to one of our questions, she didn’t hesitate to ask someone who would lead us in the right direction. We always have such competent and helpful servers. They seem to work well in a group. If one notices the other is super busy, they help each other out. They grab drinks, run food and work great as a team. They never look flustered or behind – always serving with a smile, which I truly appreciate.
Timing of food is always great at this restaurant. They like to pace it so you can enjoy each course and not feel rushed. Yet, we never feel like we are waiting a long time for the next course. They’re really good about timing with Caroline too. I know sometimes we end up having to feed her while we are there and they usually manage to make it work around feeding her too, so neither of us have to sit there and let our food get cold while we finish up with her. I can’t tell you how much this means to me. I feel like all I do is eat cold food. She always wants to eat when we do. If my food isn’t cold, I’m scarfing down a whole meal in 2.2 minutes. Not healthy, nor does it feel good on my stomach…. not to mention, not very attractive shoveling food in faster than you can possibly imagine.
As I said before, their busser is on point. But, the servers are great with pre-bussing prior courses as you move along. The tables have a decent amount of room, but, pre-bussing is especially helpful when we are dining in the bar-side of the restaurant. The high tops are a little on the small side and if you’re having a party of more than 2 at one high top, it can become quite congested, quite fast. Luckily, the servers do a pretty good job keeping up with extra plates. They do great with drink-ware also. Always staying on top of drink service. Taking old glasses out and refilling them…. Super great for me, as I LOVEEEEE their Iced Tea. I don’t know why, but, I could drink like a gallon of it. It is so delicious.
Nine times out of ten, the servers are check ready here. As you know, this is a huge deal to me. With a baby, you never know when you’ll need to dash out of a restaurant. They’re so good with us and know that she can turn a switch at any moment. It is rare that she does (knock on wood) but, it can happen.
I’ve only been in the one bathroom, I believe, now that I’m thinking about it. It has also been a couple of trips since I have been in there. I remember that it was clean. But it was before Caroline, so I wasn’t really paying attention to if they had a changing station or not. I’ll have to check the next time we go. We usually go on Friday’s, so maybe I’ll update this post over the weekend with more details on that.
Overall, we thoroughly enjoy every visit there. We have this delicious appetizer that we are obsessed with and have gotten probably the last half-dozen times we have been there. Their steaks are so flipping delicious it’s hard to get anything other than that in my opinion. They cook all the meat over lava rocks. I swear, it makes a difference. Plus, oh, oh, oh, they have this amazing chimichuri sauce… it’s like a bunch of herbs and olive oil that you can drizzle on your steak. It just puts it over the moon. My mouth is watering just thinking about it. Mmmm. I know where we will be going on Friday night! They also have five dollar burger nights on Thursday nights if you sit on the bar side. You can’t beat it. It is a delicious burger, cooked to your liking with a side of hand cut french fries. So amazing. You can’t make it at home for cheaper than that, with the price of meat and cheese now a days. We hope you get to check Frix’s out soon, if you’re local to the area! If you see us there, give us a shout out.
