Their are so many great and quick ways to make money from home even as a mom with your kids at home during the summer. I wanted to gather up some of my favorite side hustles and side jobs to do from home so I can still provide a source of income from my family and still be able to spend the day with my girls and not miss a second of their little lives.
So, without further ado, it’s time to start sharing my list of the best summer side hustles for moms to do this summer and the awesomely quick ways to make money. The best part is, these jobs and side hustles can be done all year round and can really help increase your year round income.
Create a blog
This is obviously, a thing I decided to do myself. I started my blog the weekend before I returned from maternity leave with my oldest daughter. Between the blog income, my Pinterest VA income and my other side hustles, I am now a full time work from home mommy!
Creating a blog has been a great source of income for myself and many others. It’s a fun outlet to share about things you know about and are passionate about.
An awesome thing about creating a blog as part of your quick ways to make money is, you can work on it as much or as little as you want. Only have time to work on your blog part time? No problem. Want to become a full time blogger, also no problem!
Their are so many topics you can write about and share about and it’s easy to learn to monetize your blog. It can surely become a quick way to make money.
A few of the ways to earn money from your blog are ad income, affiliate sales, sponsored posts and product creation sales.
Passively Earn Cash Back on Purchases
As most mom’s and people do these days, I bet you tend to do a lot of ordering online.
Well, did you know you can be earning some cash back on your purchases at almost all online stores?
With apps and programs like Ebates (now changing their name to Rakuten) and Ibotta, it’s easy to make your money WORK for you!
Simply sign up for either of these programs, look up your store of choice and shop away. Ebates (Rakuten), makes it even simpler by offering a browser extension for you to download.
Anytime you go to a participating store using that browser, it will ask if you want to activate your Rakuten account and that’s all you have to do. It tracks your purchases and collects your money each shopping visit.
You can also use Rakuten with participating physical brick and mortar store locations. So, not only can you earn quick and easy money on your online purchases, you can get money back on some physical in store purchases.
You can turn your cash back into gift cards, a paper check or electronically send it to your account like a bank account or a PayPal account.
Ibotta is another option you can download on your phone. After you make a purchase at a participating store location, keep your receipt to submit to the program and get your cash back.
Want to know another easy way your money can WORK for you? Grab a rewards credit card. Did you know we rarely pay for airfare tickets to go to Florida (and other places) multiple times a year? Find out how.
Sell things around the house
With so many different options and ways you can sell your stuff nowadays, this is becoming quite the quick and easy way to make money.
As your kids get older and go through different phases, it becomes increasingly apparent how much extra stuff they have. What do you do with this stuff?
You can donate it, you can pass it on to friends and family members who may need it, but, sticking with the topic of this post and trying to add easy and quick ways to make money, you can sell this stuff.
Hold a physical sale
Hold a garage sale or a yard sale. During the summertime is prime time for garage sales. Remember to keep your prices reasonable and it will be easy to get rid of the extra stuff quick.
If your kids are having a hard time letting go of some items, sometimes they just need a little convincing. Remind them of that new toy they’ve been wanting and tell them that if they make enough money from the toys they sell during the garage sale, maybe they can get that toy or treat.
Don’t have time to hold a physical yard sale? Set up your Poshmark account and start selling online. Watch the closets become cleaner and more organized and your bank account growing in return. It’s an easy and fun way to make some extra money.
You can even sell your items on social media. Quite often I see clothing, toys, and household items in my Facebook newsfeed. You can sell things in a group or sell things on the Marketplace. It’s super simple and an easy way to make some extra cash.
This is one of my very favorite ways to make money quickly and efficiently. Find a local consignment store and take your extra things there.
Locally, we have an AMAZING consignment shop where I frequently drop off clothing items that we no longer need. This make shopping for “new to us” clothing feel a little less of an expense later when the seasons change or the girls grow and we need new clothing.
Sell a product
Do you have a hobby or health product or any product really, that you currently use or fully believe in?
Well, see if it has a program where you can sell it to your friends, family and community.
Love working out, using the Beachbody videos? Become a Beachbody coach. Love using those Plexus products- become an Ambassador.
Love watching those pounds fall off using those Modere products? Share your code with friends and save money on your next purchase! They’ve got household cleaning products, personal care products and SO MUCH MORE. I’m a huge fan of Modere and love sharing about it. Using the Lean Body System, I lost 15 inches from my body in a month!
Love using those essential oils, MaryKay products, clean eating programs? Share them with friends who may enjoy them and watch your cash back and rewards build up.
Complete online surveys and tasks
I’ve shared before how I use sites like Swagbucks and Amazon Mturk to complete simple tasks throughout the day and surveys as a quick and easy way to earn a few extra bucks.
Do online work to earn money from home
If you have good hearing and decent English writing skills, then you can quickly and with very little effort, learn how to become a transcriptionist.
Their’s always a ton of these types of companies out there, but, I have worked with Rev.com before and have enjoyed doing some side work with them.
If you can pass the initial test, they’re fairly easy to work for and have a decent amount of consistent work.
Do you have office skills that you can market? Are you a good book keeper? Decent customer service representative? Their are a lot of companies out there that are looking to hire part time and full time help to cover these positions remotely, or to work from home.
Become a Virtual Assistant to earn some extra cash
This is an avenue I went down as well! You can choose what skills and services that you would like to offer to clients and get started.
Virtual Assistants can offer a variety of services. Some of the basic ones include email management, data input, calendar management and so much more.
If you have specific tasks and skill sets, you can offer those as well.
Become a Social Media Manager
Are you constantly on social media? Do you have a good handle (no pun intended) on what works to get people’s attention and get them to check out what is being advertised, then working with a business or company to manage their social media accounts might be something you’d be good at.
Do you love using Pinterest? Did you know you could make money pinning on Pinterest?
I’m a Pinterest Virtual Assistant and being a PVA has truly changed my life. I was working as a full time Ultrasound Technologist previously, but now, I am making enough money as a PVA and from my blog that I was able to quit that job to work from home and be with my girls 24/7. If you’re interested, you should start out by taking the course Become a Pinterest VA Today from Gina and Kristin. I can’t recommend this enough!
