All about the green! Saint Patty’s Day is coming up! It’ll be here before we know it. It is well known that the Irish know how to enjoy a beer or two. So, I thought I would share my two favorite green drinks. I’m not big on beer, or green beer for the matter. So, these will be Rum Drinks, as Rum is my liquor of choice! Get your green drinks and wear your green or prepared to be pinched.
Not only are these good for St. Patrick’s Day, but, they’re good year round!
The first one is a drink that a bartender made for me while in Ocean City, MD one year. The bartender called it a Scooby Snack. Not quite sure why it’s called that but it makes it easy to remember. I’ve slightly altered the ingredients to use my favorite brands of each item. But, you can use whatever brand you have available.
Scooby Snack Recipe:
- 1 ounce Cruzin Coconut Rum
- 1.5 ounce Pineapple Juice
- 1 ounce Midori Melon Liquor
- 1 ounce Reddi Whip Whip Cream (I guesstimate how much I actually need for each drink. If I want more, I add more)
Combine all ingredients, shake with ice, pour and enjoy!
It’s become one of my favorite, go to drinks.
The second drink that I wanted to share is perfect for the occasion. It is called a Fuzzy Leprechaun. It is pretty well known. The first place I had one was down in Orlando, FL at CityWalk. We were at the Irish Dueling Piano Bar called Pat O’Briens. We absolutely love that bar. It is a fun way to end the night. The gentlemen who play the pianos are phenomenal. They’re so entertaining. The bar has the Irish Bar feel and by the end of the night, it feels like everyone has a touch of Irish in them. Dave and I love to visit City Walk when we are down there. We especially enjoy the karaoke bar called Rising Star. If you ever make it down to Orlando and are looking for a fun night out. That’s a great place to go! It won’t disappoint. So, back to that drink, The Fuzzy Leprechaun. It’s green, like a leprechaun but tastes more like a peach. Yummy.
Fuzzy Leprechaun Recipe:
- 1 ounce Peach Schnapps
- 1 oz Blue Curacao
- 1 oz of your favorite Vodka
- 1/2 ounce of OJ
- 1/2 ounce Pineapple Juice
Combine all of the ingredients in a shaker with ice. Shake and pour into a glass. You can garnish with an orange, if you’re feeling fancy!
Any time we have one of these drinks, it brings me back to Pat O’Briens. We are going to FL in a couple weeks and I’ll have to post pics of us enjoying one or two!
Just for fun, here’s a fun picture of Dave on our honeymoon in Jamaica. He got to play bartender and made up some interesting drink. Kinda green in color but a fun picture to reminisce from.
